Idaho teens under the age of 17 wishing to get an ID drivers license are required to complete 30 hours of drivers education along with in-car training provided by an approved driving school. Our state-approved online teen driver education satisfies the classroom portion of the Idaho Transportation Department drivers education requirement. How Our Online Drivers Ed in Idaho Works:

  1. Be at least 14 years and 6 months old to sign up for our course. Once you are registered for drivers education and have obtained your driver training instruction permit at the county sheriff's department, you can begin your in-car training.
  2. Complete the 30 hour drivers education course. Study the online animations, videos, and simple text lessons. Work at your own pace, complete as much or as little in one sitting as you want. During this time you will also complete 6 hours of behind-the-wheel training and 6 hours observing another driver with an approved driving school.
  3. Pass an online final exam and we will notify your driving school that you have met your 30 hour classroom requirement. Once both the drivers education and in-car training is completed, you will need to hold your driver training instruction permit for 6 months. During this time you and your parent will complete 50 hours of supervised driving time plus 10 hours of practice at night.
  4. After concluding your 6-month supervised, violation-free instruction period and you are at least 15 years old, you are now ready to visit your county sheriff's office for the written knowledge test. Take your FREE 50 permit practice tests as further preparation for your licensing exam. After passing the knowledge test, make an appointment for your driving skills test with an approved driving skills tester. Pass your test to get your license!
