Traffic School Fees vs Court Fees
- question from 7/30/2020 by Kevin, filed under Traffic School Fees and Traffic School Costs
If I already paid to get permission to take traffic school through the county of Alameda, do I still need to pay for your traffic school course?
Hello-
I received my first ticket a month ago in Alameda County for going over the speed limit. I paid the ticket fine on the Alameda court website and now I want to take traffic school. I heard if I take traffic school that will prevent from my auto insurance going up. I'm signing up with your school but it's asking me to give payment.
Is that in addition to the payment I made to the traffic court already? Please help?
TrafficSchool.com Says
Hello Kevin-
We understand your frustration, many people are often unclear about what the different costs for traffic school are. In general, there are basically 2 different fees a driver pays when they go to traffic school:
1) The fee you pay to the court for permission to take traffic school
2) The fee you pay to the traffic school for providing the course
Each court charges an administrative fee to allow you to attend a traffic school or home study program. If you do not pay the administrative fee to the court, then the court will not process your certificate of completion with the DMV. This is separate from any of our charges for the actual traffic school course.
All traffic schools in California, whether classroom, home study or Internet courses, will charge separate fees from the money already paid to your court (fines and administrative fees).
Just so you are aware, Traffic Schools like TrafficSchool.com do not receive any of the fees that you pay to the courts. The courts offer us no financial assistance in any way.
We hope that helps to clarify the different traffic school costs. Have a wonderful day from TrafficSchool.com-TVS #E1393.
